24 Season 7… Spicy details

Regardless of how you felt about “24: Redemption”, bringing “24″ back into the national consciousness was the film’s major goal and it looks like FOX succeeded. With season 7 less than a month away, some tidbits which teem on the internet whipped up my interest.
For those of you who love spoilers we have a few surprises. One of the major players from “24: Redemption” will be killed sometime in the first four episodes of season 7. It won’t be Jack.
It won’t be President Allison Taylor…we can only begin to speculate.
With generosity “24″ executive producer, Jon Cassar, sheds some light on the new bad guy, saying: “Well, basically what we’re doing is we’re playing with Blackwater and these military firms that provide the government with power. That is one of the characters on the show, part of being on the wrong side of the law, let’s say.”
Jonas Hodges seems like a believable head of a Blackwater type organization.
And maybe, just maybe, one of the big twists will be that Tony is indeed a bad guy now. He orchestrates a dangerous kidnapping in the season’s first scene and he looks gritty to do some awful things at Dulles airport.
The first 15 minutes of “24″ season 7
Jack Bauer is acid like always…
He begins the seventh hellish day of his life being questioned regarding his use of interrogation techniques. He speaks to the senator who runs the hearing in a contrite and snide manner, giving an impassioned response to the torture allegations. There is thunder in the air, especially since it appears that after the senate hearing Jack will be sent to jail for an unspecified amount of time.
When removed from the hearing to help investigate an imminent security threat he is short with the FBI agents and the woman who will be his new partner. That taste of bitterness in his speech will probably remain palpable until the charges are dropped… which may or may not happen during this season.
Is a thin end of the wedge with Jack before a senate committee, but let’s face it! Realism isn’t 24’s strong point. I seriously doubt an FBI agent can simply fling into such a hearing and take Jack away. Also, in the first fifteen minutes, both Rhys Coiro and Janeane Garofalo make brief appearances as the “New CTU” employees, working in the FBI offices.
All in all, it’s an exciting opening, one that will surely whet the appetite of any “24″ fan who has patiently waited nearly two years for Jack Bauer to return. Don’t be sad, January 11 is just around the corner.
