Castle Season 1 Episode 1 Flowers for Your Grave
“Castle”, ABC’s new TV show with detectives, premiered last night with “Flowers for Your Grave”. The series has as central character a successful murder mystery writer, Richard Castle. It seems one of his fans liked his books just a bit too much and starts running around killing people as described in Castle’s books.
Called in by the NYPD homicide department to help them catch the killer, Richard Castle teams up with Detective Kate Beckett who is very reluctant to let an arrogant, impatient, immature and self absorbed author help in her investigation. Kate is tough, smart and both annoyed and charmed by Castle.
The sexual tension is immediate and increasingly mostly because she also happens to be a secret fan of his work. The investigations play out as you’d expect in a procedural drama, but I like the fact that they are able to discern details from the crime scenes without “being too CSI”.
Perfectly blending the crime procedural elements with humor, “Castle” looks promising.
