Gossip Girl Season 2 Episode 1 Summer, Kind of Wonderful

On “Gossip Girl”, nobody caters for seasons. It doesn’t matter if it’s winter, autumn, summer or spring, the atmosphere can heat in a twinkling. “Summer, Kind of Wonderful” is the beginning of a new chapter wherein the youngsters from Upper East Side continue to cut capers. After a period filled with love affairs, anger and hard work (on Jenny’s part at least… who, although she creates beautiful dresses, fails to impress her boss), a white-clad party in the Hamptons, the stage of plots, sets things in motion.
Serena spent the summer pouting and mourning for her relationship with Dan while faking to be Nate’s girlfriend. By the way, he is a little bit caught playing hide and seek as cougar Catherine Mason’s beautiful and young lover. As if that weren’t enough… taken aback by the coming of the cuckold husband, Nate gets on running on people’s greenswards only in his underwear.
At the party, he tries to make Catherine jealous and even succeeds when Serena comes up with the wonderful idea to passionately kiss him in front of her. Things get an unexpected turn when, out of nowhere, appears a pretty damn angry Dan.
As for Chuck’s heart, it still belongs to Blair. It’s more than obvious that, although he was the one who left her, his soul skips a beat when she shows up with James. Blair confesses to Serena that James is the person who she had to bring from Europe in order to keep up appearances and thrust a knife into Chuck’s heart making him regret the decision of leaving her.
However, the surprise comes from B’s boy toy who proves to be neither more nor less than a British Duke whose real name is Marcus. This “insignificant” detail suddenly makes him a million times more attractive to B who is more than ready to start afresh with him, without lies and without Chuck in the middle. Maybe this young man with blue blood didn’t realize on time that a title was exactly what he needed to get himself noticed, but… it’s better late than never.
