Lost Season 5 Episode 13 “Some Like It Hoth” Preview
Slowly but surely, all the little clues and mysteries begin to knit. Last week’s episode of “Lost” revolved around the show’s giants: Ben Linus, John Locke and Charles Widmore. Through years, Ben did many suspicious things “to protect the island” and apparently, he got off easily. Deep inside, we all knew very well that sooner or later he will have to pay a price.
First things first, it seems that Locke revived and now, he is the one who rules the roost. It was interesting and kind of refreshing to see him calm, unhesitating and gaining the upper hand of Ben, an intangible position by nobody else on the island. The fact that John knew so many things about the island was really frustrating for Ben. Although he killed Locke from so called altruistic reasons, if I can say that, he also egoistically saw the perfect opportunity to put him out of his way because John represented a threat… And he wasn’t wrong.
The climax of the episode was when Smokey passed judgement upon Ben…
Our favorite monster appeared milder than ever, surrounded him and showed him his sins. In that moment, I thought Ben will die… but Smokey receded into the background giving place to Alex, very likely as not the same monster with another appearance, who gave him a harsher punishment than death. He must follow Locke, the new chosen of the island, without any doubt or trace of foul play. “Dead Is Dead” put Ben in a totally different light. He appeared human, a positive character.
Regarding Charles Widmore, he occupied exactly the same position as Ben having Richard as his right hand while Jacob was his superior. Returning to Locke, the episode made us believe that he is actually Smokey. It could be manipulation but we can’t shut our eyes to the numberless clues… At a given moment, Ben said that the island made some frolics but never resurrected a person. When he called Smokey, from the jungle appeared John wearing black, the color of death. He knows pretty much for a man who just woke up from the dead… However, this is just a speculation.
Tonight, the show focuses on the mysteries that surround Dharma Initiative. When little Ben disappears from the infirmary, suspicions about a possible traitor intensify. A reluctant Miles must deliver an important package to a senior Dharma operative. Meanwhile, through flashbacks, we find out how he came to be part of Widmore’s operation. You definitely wouldn’t like to miss this episode…
