Lost Season 5 Episode 8 LaFleur
Lost Season 5 Episode 8 “LaFleur” Preview

As we all know, “Lost” differentiates from other TV shows through its complexity. How the writers manage to keep it in the foreground is really amazing. “The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham” focused on Locke’s experience between the two islands, worldly separated by almost half a century.
Through this journey, the episode made us want to believe that Widmore is good and Ben is bad.
In a few words, this is how things appear to me.
If Locke’s temporary death had happened by suicide, the sin of his action would have prevented him from returning on the island. Although looked like a villain, by killing John, Ben preserved his spiritual purity. Ben’s real purpose is still an enigma because he lies, then lies again and then lies to cover up his lies. On the other hand, Widmore seemed “the good guy”, helping Locke, trying to ensure his safety. What next? Although I incline to believe that Widmore goes by the proverb “the end justifies the means”, which doesn’t make him a negative character, deep inside both Widmore and Ben want the power that comes with the island. But “Lost” shakes all your assumptions when you least expect it and exactly that is its beauty. Lately, the show also made a habit of introducing new characters and this time it is Caesar and Ilana’s turn to enter the scene. Did they know each other from before? This is to be anybody’s guess. It remains to be seen… Let’s focus now on some of the Easter Eggs!

a) Caesar had a “Life” magazine on which cover were photos of the first Hydrogen Bomb test from 1954. This could be a reference to the Hydrogen Bomb we saw on the island in “Jughead”. That was also from 1954. b) The truck that picked up Locke in Tunisia had on its license plate the number 42. c) One of the Numbers appears in Locke’s face passport for Jeremy Bentham… his birthday is February 15. d) Two more Numbers appeared on Helen Norwood’s burial stone. Her date of death was April 8.
Lately “Lost” featured many religious motifs. “The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham” made no exception. e) John bought the extension cord to hang himself from Angel’s Hardware. f) Like a parallel between John Locke and Jesus Christ, both were resurrected, wore sandals and as if that weren’t enough when Ben visited him (g), John had his hands outstretched like Jesus on the cross. h) Ajira Airways crashed on the smaller second island. The proof is the file which Caesar was reading. It had the Hydra symbol on it. The Hydra Station was DHARMA’s zoological station with the cages and underground aquarium. i) Could the nun be the spy who was watching Sayid?

Tomorrow night, Lost returns with “LaFleur”. Stuck in a different decade, Sawyer and some of the other survivors perpetuate a lie in order to protect themselves from mistakes of the past. Also in this episode returns Horace, the DHARMA Initiative member who witnessed to Ben’s birth and later built Jacob’s cabin. How will Daniel cope with Charlotte’s death? Why Sawyer’s new shirt has a DHARMA logo on it? Who is this pregnant woman named Amy? Find out the answers to these burning questions in “LaFleur” which airs March 4…
