“The Monster at the End of This Book” was a tricky meta episode “made by the book” or in a word… perfect. Tapping a meta concept without falling prey to ridiculous is a very difficult thing to do, but Kripke and Co. offered a screamingly funny chapter islanded with inside jokes and by the ways. Nobody came off with a whole skin. Worth mentioning… the pricks at CW and the not too subtle allusion to “Grey’s Anatomy” that snatches from their audience.
Dean and Sam came across a series of stories that depicted all their adventures as demon hunters and also how might their future look like. They managed to find the author of the books who later proved to be a prophet of God and more than that, he was protected by an archangel. “I am the prophet, Chuck!” is the brilliant/funny line that could define the episode. After talking to the boys, he had another vision and warned them that Lillith was coming for Sam. Although the brothers tried not to argue to avoid fulfilling the prophecy, she appeared. Lilith discovered that she will not survive the Apocalypse if it came and
was willing to make a deal with Sam.
With “a little help” from Castiel, Dean managed to foil the demon’s plans. To the end, Chuck dreamed the Apocalypse and wanted to warn the boys but Zachariah stopped him. Whose side Castiel’s superior is? “On the Head of a Pin” showed that not everything is going great in heaven… Maybe this angel is one of those who are displeased with God’s rules. Regarding Dean and Sam things are clear. Dean has more trust in Castiel than in his own brother while Sam gambles on Ruby… one with the angels, the other with the demons. Will the brotherly love be stronger than Sam’s demon blood?
It remains to be seen…
In “Jump the Shark”… Dean and Sam receive a phone call from a 19 year old boy named Adam who claims to be John Winchester’s son. Assuming that he’s another demon who wants to lure them in a trap, they decide to meet him. The boys find out that Adam is indeed their brother. However, when he begins to tell them about his “normal” upbringing, Dean works himself up into frenzy…
