“Ugly Betty” is based on a Colombian soap opera “Yo soy Betty la fea”. Betty is a 22 – year old girl with many qualities: she’s smart, hard working and sweet and has a great sense of humor but especially… a big heart.
She starts to work as a secretary at Mode, a chic fashion magazine. The only problem is that she’s not beautiful and thin like all her coworkers. Her boss, Daniel Meade, has just recently become the editor-in-chief of the magazine after the death of his brother Alex.
Daniel Meade has a bad reputation regarding women. His father hired Betty because he thought she was someone who Daniel would never sleep with. Betty’s hard work and skills earn Daniel’s respect.
“Ugly Betty” is executive produced by Salma Hayek.
