What CSI really means?

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is an American crime drama television series about a team of forensic investigators trained to solve crimes by examining the evidence. They are on the case 24/7, seeking the crime scene, collecting the evidences and finding the missing pieces that will solve the mystery.
Gil Grissom, night shift supervisor, heads the team of investigators at the Crime Lab in Las Vegas. He is a forensic entomologist with a degree in biology from UCLA.
The night shift assistant, Catherine Willows, is a hard-working single parent with a dark past. She supported herself through college by working as an exotic dancer. This character is based on real life CSI Yolanda McCleary.
Nick Stokes has a degree in criminal justice from Texas A&M University. Because he was molested at a young age, his character is portrayed as more empathetic than his co-workers.
Greg Sanders was the lab’s DNA technician. After that he becomes field investigator.
Warrick Brown is a top analyst with insider knowledge of the gambling world.
The CSI team members also work closely with: Captain Jim Brass, the former chief, now assigned to Homicide, Dr. Albert Robbins, the medical examiner and David Hodges, a lab technician with a specialty in trace and foreign-substance analysis.
Hodges’ appearances provide some comic moments, though most of the team finds him irritating.
The show was heavily criticized almost since its debut by police and district attorneys and by the Parents Television Council for an inaccurate image of how police solve crimes and for its violence.
Nevertheless, CSI became the most-watched TV show. CBS renewed the show for a ninth season, which began airing on October 9, 2008.
